Please Forgive Me for this.

Until August 1995 when Windows 95 came out there wasn't any Windows
Start Button.

Windows 3.1 didn't need it.

If WIN was on the last line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, Windows 3.1
started when the computer was turned ON.

When finished using Windows 3.1, just Double-Click on the square in the
Left Corner of the Program Managers' Title Bar and next Click OK in the
box that opened, Wait a bit for the DOS PROMPT, then either run some DOS
programs OR Turn the Power Switch OFF if you were through using the
computer.  ;-)

I never wanted win as the last line in my AUTOEXEC.BAT file and I didn't
want to see the UGLY Windows 3.1 Opening Screen - so I created a two
line W.BAT file in a Directory that was in the PATH of the computer.

I learned about how to make the Batch File from a Book or Computer
Magazine.

Here's My W.BAT:

         |_ Carriage Return ($0D)

c:\windows\win
              ^^^^

Note: For anyone unfamiliar with Hexadecimal Numbers the $
"Dollar Sign" before the number means the number is in Hex instead of
Decimal.

When I 'Had' To use Windows 3.1, I pressed the W key and the Enter key.

Which VM did you try W8 on?

I tried 'updateing' INNOTEK VirtualBox (vBox) 1.4.0 to Oracle 4.1.18 and
couldn't get the 'update' to work.
I also tried 4.1.20 and it wouldn't work on this XP computer either.

I went back to the 1.4.0 but now can't figure out what settings it needs
so I can get on the internet through Firefox in Ubuntu 7.04.

I have a Linksys Router connected to a DSL Modem here.
Before the 'update' Firefox and U'u 7.04 in a VM session worked,
during the 'update' I was 'asked' to remove the Old Innotek version
before installing the 'update'.

Any Ideas?    Thanks!
