You don't need flat memory model to circumvent the <64K index problem,
you just need intelligent coding which can handle it.  In fact, you don't
need to read the entire index into memory anyway, so the
"problem" is rather contrived and indicative of a sorry waste of
memory. My own code handles Squish indexes in a 4K window and I've found
that plenty fast enough for any use, predictable memory requirements and no
built-in limitations on the number of messages it can handle in each
individual message base. Throw in a read/write cache and there's basically
no loss in performance at all.

But if you really want "The MSGAPI" with all it's limitations and
shortfalls compiled with Watcom, contact Jim Louvau, 1:290/4. As indicated
above, I don't yet have it, and unfortunately won't until I can afford to
purchase it.
