Again, you have evaded the question. We are talking theories here,
Charles. You said you should not have to participate in certain laws
because you had not voted on them. I suggested we go along with your
system of eliminating all current laws you have not voted on. You did
not vote on any of the current treaties. Therefore, *all* existing
treaties would be none-existent. Indian land would be open to anyone
who had the power to grab it. In this system that you want, how would
you protect Indian rights? You say Indians should be allowed to rule
themselves. What will you do, in this new order you want, to insure
that that right to rule themselves is protected? History shows that
money hungry people have grabbed Indian land in the past. It is my
belief that if we accept your criteria of proper laws (only those you
have had a chance to vote on), it will happen again.
You are asking us to change our current system of things to another
system. It is possible that you are right, and we should change it.
But before I agree to your way of doing things, I have a lot of
questions I want answered. If you want to convince me (or most other
people), you had better come up with answers, and not with evasions.
