subject: 33600 connects

JP> On my usual hunt for a 33600 connect, Ludi Desouza and I ran a few more

 JP> tests BBS

JP> resulted in a boring 31200 bps connect. However, when I called Triode, I

 JP> was pleasantly surprised:

 JP> atdt93890823

 JP> CONNECT 33600/ARQ/V34/LAPM/V42BIS

 JP> Speed 33600/33600

 JP> Carrier Freq (Hz) 1959/1959

 JP> Symbol Rate 3429/3429

 JP> Trellis Code 64S-4D/16S-4D

                              ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

To a Rockwell system, not a Courier, Thats encouraging

 JP> Recv/Xmit Level (-dB) 23/16

JP> After all this time, experimentation and frustration, what a great

 JP> surprise!

JP> Well, there is the proof: 33600 connects ARE in fact possible on this

 JP> line.

See, Ya just got to hold your mouth the right way

JP> Triode's welcome screen mentioned that a NetComm 288 was the modem I

 JP> connected

As noted above

 JP> Comments from anyone?

No comment....What we need is a little less comment from Telstra (the likes

of " we only guarantee our system to 2400 & our SN to 30
-db") a lot more

action from the Tech's and even less comment from the "Timed local calls

lobby"
