FF>> But for modems designed with local loop losses of 7db, this could

JC> If it came to the crunch you could always add a 7db pad to the Krone
 JC> strip.

It's likely to be built in to the line, as this would avoid this sort of
problem all together.

FF>> Well, there really is no technical reason to price ISDN over Optus'
FF>> HFC any more than a voice line, but they no doubt will :-(

JC> The current situation with the installation of digital mux equipment

I'm in 100% agreement here.

FF>> In fact, there is no technical reason why Telstra's ISDN line prices
FF>> are higher than voice lines. ISDN lines should actually be
FF>> *cheaper*, as there is no need to place a line card in the exchange
 FF>> for an ISDN link.

JC> Or A-D and D-A conversion equipment out the front of the house
JC> although these costs would be offset against the cost of a Network
 JC> Terminal Adaptor.

If your refering to Optus' setup, they always install a decoder box cabable
of handling TV, phone and data. They just plug in what you ordered, and
leave the rest. Later, they can just walk in and easily add any extra
service(s) you might want.

Frank
