If an opinion is based on flawed reasoning, bad math, etc...I will not
tolerate it. I will point out it's errors to tbe best of my ability, in an
effort to change that opinion, without prejudice.

If the person, who holds that opinion, does not change that opinion...then
I will ignore that person's opinion.

The leadership of Uzbekistan has closed the borders to neighboring
countries. Uzbek citizens are not free to travel to other 'Stans.' Why?
In the 'opinion' of the Uzbek leadership this was done to protect Uzbek
citizens from low quality, poorly-produced consumer goods coming from
China.

Sadly, most Uzbek citizens do not take issue with this opinion, and the
government oppression continues.

You get the government you deserve.

If you are sloppy in your ATM thinking and research...you get the ATM
opinion you deserve.

If, when provided differing information and arguments that should change
your opinion...you still hold onto your flawed opinion...you are at least
afraid and stubborn...and perhaps even a fool or liar.

Today is the 4th of July. That is a day off for many Americans. Tonight
it means I have 'mandatory work' in the form of a formal reception/party
hosted by the US Embassy in Tashkent. In my line of work I rub elbows with
personnel from the Uzbek Ministry of Defense. If, during tonight's party,
I am approached by the Uzbek Defense Minister and he asks me how the
programs I manage are going...I will give him an honest appraisal of
problems and obstacles that must be overcome. Will his opinion on how to
manage certain programs change because of my input? I truly hope so,
because the pervasive corruption, ineptitude, fear to make decisions, etc.
are crippling this country in all facets of life.

Have a happy 4th of July!
