Thanks again for all of the excellent suggestions. They really do help.
Checking the 20M crystal
using both the T4XC and the R4C was smart, but was unable to get any output.
I took the covers
off and looked it over good, nothing obvious. I then borrowed some DeOxit
and went after the bandswitches
 still no luck. I then resorted to the tried and true "Just start poking
around in the radio with an insulated stick"
method while trying to tune and bingo, I found an intermitant something.
Couldn't really find anything obvious
but by moving the mounting bracket of the central rotary switch of the band
control I got it to work on 20 meters. I tightened up a few things including
the band switch itself, it was loose and so far so good.
