JS>DRN> in California, took it to an RV repair place, they found his handgun,
JS>DRN> last I heard he was facing some hard time in the penitentiary. If
this
JS>DRN> story is indeed true, you're better off to leave guns home or follow
JS>DRN> federal laws for transporting interstate.
JS>Federal interstate transport regs only apply to sales of guns, not
JS>personal carry, if I am not mistaken. Judge Balkan?
Federal interstate transport laws apply to TRANSPORT of guns.
It is called the FOPA of 1986, the same law that banned new
import and new manufacture of full-auto firearms.
Basically, it's this, if the firearm is legal in your state of
origin and your state of destination, it is legal to transport
between them. As I understand it, it also must be unloaded,
in a closed container, inaccessible to the driver, and stored
separately (in a different case/box) from the ammo.
