BS> Oh that's quite nice, it's in section 1. I just checked my linux box to make sure. Getopt in section 1 is some kind of freaky Linux getopt for shell scripts. (section 1 is command line programs; like section 1M under SVR4). You want the getopt in section 3, it's a C function. BS> Somekind of semaphore? Close enough; the functionaity is atomic across processes (and across machines if you are runing nfs.lockd). The version I wrote for -lcompat might not be atomic across threads; I'd have to think about that for a minute. If you have a moment, you should grep the 'net for "advisory file locking". BS> Oh ok :) That's real multiuser programming :) Remember, under UNIX, *all* programming should be treated as multi-user programming: otherwise you *will* eventually get bit in the ass -- if not by another user, then by a cron job, runbbs.sh, etc. Wes --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 106/2000 633/267 |
