Bill,
Normal mic gain for a TR-7 with most dynamic mics is around 9 to 10 =
o'clock. The mic level to obtain the ALC led increases with frequency. =
Pin 3 of the mic connector runs straight to the transmit exciter board, =
pin 4 goes through a 470k resistor. Pin 4 was for mics with high output =
I am told. I have tried many mics on several TR-7's over the years, =
D104, 444D, 526T, 7077, 7075, and various hand mics. All performed well =
and with more then enough gain through pin 3 and with MIC GAIN settings =
around 9 or 10 o'clock. I suspect you have other problems. I am not =
familiar with the Heil mics, but if you had bad audio with your 7077 =
then I suspect the TR-7 has problems.
