-=> Quoting Sondra Ball to Robin Arnhold <=-
Hi, Sondra,
SB> It really is spring here now. The forsythia is in bloom; so are some
SB> of the cherry trees and the Russian tulips. The grass is greening. It
SB> was in the sixties yesterday, and will be again today.
I hope that April Fool's nor'easter missed you. Last Saturday, we were
'blessed' with seven and a half inches of snow. We had some very nice
weather the first week in April and the flowers started coming up. Then
it got very cold and many of them were killed off. The grass is nice and
green, though, although the weather still leaves a lot to be desired.
I've been thinking it will probably go from temperatures in the fifties
to temperatures in the eighties very rapidly this year. It just seems
like one of those years.
SB> I imagine by
SB> next weekend we will need to start thinking about mowing the lawn. In
SB> our house we only think about it for the first few weeks, until the
SB> neighbors are looking askance at our long grass, and shaking their
SB> heads.
My landlord seems to have solved that problem. He planted the front yard
in flowers and other ornamental vegetation with wood chips between the
plants. He never has to mow. I sort of laugh to myself about it. Joe's
sideline is lawncare and snow removal! Guess he gets too much of it
elsewhere to want to do his own.
SB> I think that surgery is pretty successful. Do they have her on "water
SB> pills", then, to reduce the fluid levels in her legs?
Yes, she has been on several medications for it for four-five years. The
doctor did up the dosage. I won't be up to see Mom now until Mother's
Day, so I don't know how the increased dosage is working.
Take care,
Robin
