There is.

Yeppers.......that is for a full FTP session. It is possible to FTP files
through the Fidonet netmail area of BBSes, depending on whether the sysop
allows netmail access etc. Check with your sysop for further info on this.
Also check on your local BBSes for a information file call WHIZBANG.ZIP which
explains how to go about access the internet through the netmail area of a
bbs.

No.

Check to see if there are any FreeNet providers (schools, libraries, freenet
user groups) in your area.

BBS'ing isn't free........you may have free access to your BBSes (as all
callers do to my BBS) but I and other sysops still have to pay the phone
bills, electricity, net connection dues, Fidonet and othernet access costs,
wear and tear on our equipment etc. :-)

Yes the "new" stuff is out there....most of it boring and probably very, very
little you can run on a 286 system. One thing though Chris.....386/486
motherboards and ram are really cheap these days; it would really be worth
your while to see if you can get a 386/486 motherboard to stick in your
present computer.
