If you are entering a specific filename in your search pattern, eg
FILENAME.ZIP then you might have to include it in quotes so that it becomes
"FILENAME.ZIP".
Sometimes it's better to search for a more generic term rather than a
specific file name. Say if you wanted to find out which file servers *may
possibly* carry a public domain FILENAME.ZIP then do a search for <"public
domain" and (file* or program*)> (leave off the symbols
though).........that should turn up a few hundred or so references!
You can then either just go to the site and see if they have the file or use
the search again with extra search parameters to narrow the choices. IMHO,
using the Advanced Search in lieu of the Easy Search format (if the site
offers an Advanced Search format....not all do) is a better tool to use.
Here's some URL's to try:

http://www.download.com
http://www.tucows.com
http://www.cdrom.com
You can also use the program Archie to do server searches. :-)
