The technical standard says that it has to be upper case:

  in upper case.

Some mailers also only accept upper case passwords. Maybe some mailers
ignore the case. But all Fido software should work with upper case
passwords.

Sure. Any drive, any directory possible. You may even move the directory
after installation to another drive and other directory (even other PC),
this will automatically recognized and all paths gets updated automatically
at the next start.

When you start installation the box comes up and lets you choose a drive
and directory for installation. You can also create a new directory.

So, you start fid*.exe for installation, click on "Install" and
there the box is.
