First, this is not a good place to start. Pick a simple game idea
for learning. Having to learn vga graphics + learning 3d to 2d
ideas is enough of a headache. Start with something easy first
    like a pacman game.
Otherwise, #1 write a function that rescales a square picture
    by a factor of x.x
    #2 write a 3d engine that given a 3d point will translate
    into a 2d point
#3 write a mapping function that will map a square picture onto
any 4 sided figure no matter its shape
#4 write a good algorithm that will "decide" which polygons
should be drawn given a players orintation in the 3d world (BSP tree?)
#5 write a program that will allow you to graphically create a map
and move about in this map
#6 add fuzzy logic engine for AI decision making by characters in
    your game
    .... etc, etc, etc
Start small then in a few years move up to something like doom
