Thieving gits cor next they be encouraging theft by allowing you
to skip adverts........

There are a couple for Linux I've been playing with (Xawtv has a record to
avi function which ain't bad).

I'm looking for something really solid to move my vhs tapes to avi...I know
it's out there coz It's what so sad about the current PC slump. IMHO it
traces directly to the RIAA going after Napster & pushing all these
laws they're after. Suddenly what was "limited by your
imagination" started becoming "limited by Gov order" &
that's never good for sales. Imagine the sales of new machinery if
multimedia through a PC becomes std (watching films, PVR, audio etc). I
just hope they bring out blue lazer CD/RW soon.

Also I have a serial port IR thingy which allows me to record &
then emulate all my remotes....what is good wrt Linux is that GnomeMeeting
doesn't care what the device is whereas if I try to setup my TV card
through netmeeting netmeeting just disappears (no "bye then"
message). What this allows me to do is watch sky TV from home all over the
world
