subject: Problems with Turbo C++ 3.0 and DESQview

Just today I bought Turbo C++ 3.0, to learn a bit more C and do some
development.

I've installed it okay, but it's causing some problems. I'm working under
DESQview, and there's a couple of problems;

(1) it's killing the serial ports, or the fossil driver. My BBS dies with
callers online, or can't answer the phone, and I have to quit the BBS and
reload; seems to indicate a fossil driver conflict.

(2) the IDE is taking the rest of my EMS memory, which means I can't open
any more windows. Is it possible to disable this behaviour.

I've developing some stuff with packet drivers and Waterloo (WATTCP) TCP/IP
libraries. I guess that COULD be conflicting with the fossil, but I've used
packet drivers and Waterloo applications under DV fine before without these
problems. The command line compiler seems to kill the serial port too.

This is most irritating. For now, I've had to transfer all the stuff to another
PC to continue, but I don't feel as at home on the other PC, without
multitasking and my other development stuff. Turbo Pascal doesn't have this
problem. :-)

Any ideas on what could be happening?

Regards,
Hamish
