cs> Grin, I'm so used to container gardening, that now that we have a house,

Perhaps I do not understand 'raised bed'? You used the term how deep, but
now seem to indicate it will be a framework sitting on the ground.
If it is sitting on the ground, the prep work is the same as that of any
other garden. Till the soil and fertilize if needed then apply framework and
build up soil to match the new height.
Gotta be missing something in what you are asking but dont know what it is.
cs> Next year, we plan to put in a real garden but we are starting slow and
cs> steady. The ground needs to be prepped carefully over time as it is a
cs> sandy poor soil.
DW> We have great soil and access to potting soil and other type
DW> of soils that we may need..I do wish you luck with your garden. Hope
DW> you have large yields and I know that you will enjoy it very much. (I
DW> love to work with the soil..I don't wear gloves because I love to
DW> feel the soil with my bare hands.)
Hehe i am enjoying it too, but taking it slow. I dont want some 20 hour a
week workload of garden.
