The message from Kenneth Newman rises higher:
CR> NP: "Low Rider" -- War (heh, cool-badness?)
KN>
KN> As you may or may not know, I'm a real big War fan.
I didn't know that.
KN> Probably my fave is _The World is a Ghetto_. It's in sort
KN> of the same almost proggy groove as Traffic, or Santana,
KN> imo. However, the line "eat them salted peanuts from the
KN> can" in "The Cisco Kid Was a Friend of Mine" definitely
KN> qualifies as cool-badness. I mean, that's bad. But it's
KN> cool.
I just ordered _The World Is A Ghetto_ from BMG. The only War album I
have is _Why Can't We Be Friends?_, and while the title song is pretty
drab, the rest of it I quite like. My favorites are "Don't Let No One
Get You Down," "Smile Happy," and "Leroy's Latin Lament" (a bit of Prog
there in the fact that there are 4 distinct themes and the first one is
reprised at the end). Then there's that ultra-cool "Heartbeat" song. I
shouldn't like that one, but I do. :-)
