From: "Richard Ozer" To: Cc: Reply-To: "Richard Ozer" You really need to work with a solid piece of glass. Laminating thinner plates together will likely introduce stress, particularly as the temperature changes. There are a variety of sources for 6" full thickness pyrex. You can call Willman - Bell at (804)320-7016... note that their on-line catalog does not have mirrors, but their printed catalog does. The other option is Newport Glass at http://www.newportglass.com/home.htm. I want to make a 6" scope, but when I tried to buy thick glass in the area where I live, all I could get is 6mm thick plate glass. Does anyone have any experience or theories on laminating thinner plates of glass with an adhesive to form a thicker piece? Secondly, what are the pros and cons of making a mirror from a section of surgical grade stainless steel? Looking forward to your thoughts.
