There's a year-end procedure which will create a backup of the old
transactions and purge them from the current file.  However, it'll
only work with respect to cleared transactions, so anything that's
got all "uncleared" transactions (such as cash accounts) won't be
affected.  That's why I've set my Visa card up as a "bank" account
rather than a liability account, per se.  "Reconciling" it when my
statement comes in clears the billed transactions.
