Hello, mark.
Replying to a message of mark lewis to Bo Simonsen:
ml> there are a few pascal compilers for *nix systems... don't knock
ml> pascal because its old and was developed as a teaching language...
Also don't knock Modula-2, Modula-3 or Oberon, which all were written after
Pascal by Niklaus Wirth himself as improvements to Pascal. Compaq and IBM
both use Oberon internally.
As for old, C is a hell of a lot older than Pascal. After all, all this
new activity is based on an operating system that's... 34 years old now?
Don't sit here and nitpick me: Linux is a clone of System V UNIX, which is
old as dirt. Remember, Mark, C was developed to write UNIX, which replaced
MULTICS when the MULTICS project's funds were cut short. That's been quite
a few years ago.
Later,
Sean
