Not sure if this will help, but I'll take a stab at it. At one time I had a
Seagate external backup drive setup in fstab, and the only way I could get it
to work was with sec=lanman. Give that a try. If it does work, just forewarning
if I remember right lanman was one of the weakest security levels so you may
not want to allow the shares outside of your LAN (which I didn't do, so didn't
have to take any extra security measures).
