We live in a city that hates cars to. Our trailer court rules state
that no more than 2 vehicles per trailer. All others must be parked on
the street. The thing is, you can't park on the street more than 24
hrs., then you'll be ticketed AND towed. We are renting a garage about
5 miles from here. The city sent us a certified letter stating that we
had to do something about our stock car shell and our '74 Dodge Pick-up.
The stock car shell will be my race car for next year. And the '74
Dodge truck will be getting a different engine (the current one is about
to let go.) in a few weeks. Tomorrow night, I have to go before the
city council to state my case and hope for some slack. The thing is the
entrance to our garage is off a alleyway, and the stock car and truck
are hidden behind some trees. I've talked to the neighbors and they
have told me they don't even know what we have there. But yet there are
others who have their cars set on the street for the last 6 months and
NO ONE even bothers them. In our town, it seems the racers are harassed
constantly. Even though Boone, is the home of the IMCA Super Nationals.
About 5,000 cars come in every year for this event. It stinks, but I
guess you have to live with every town's little eccentrics.
