Okay.  Take your time.

Nice thing about German is that all the extra utf8 characters can all be
converted to cp437.  I used to think that u00df (0xc3 and 0x9f from your
perspective) was the Greek letter beta but it turns out it is the Latin letter
for sharp s (double s sound in German).

However I am still sticking with utf8 given the universallity which is sadly
lacking in cp437 even for western European languages.
