I know a bit more about the Brontes then most people and can tell you that
Charlotte would frequently say that she would give up any fame and fortune
she had as a novelist if she could be beautiful. From her pictures she
wasn't bad looking but she did have TB so who knows what she looked like in
person. But all of the sisters and brother were addicted to opium. Like most
people who are sex obsessed she probably wasn't getting any. It's a very
similiar situation vis a vis feminists who are also obsessed with sexual
matters because they are either too ugly to attract a man or suffer from
some sexual dysfunction like lesbianism. Take a look at some pictures of
feminists from the 1800's and also today and you'll see that they're quite
similiar. Not exactly the type to charm the birds from the trees, to say the
least :o) They're bitter and frustrated because they know they will never
reproduce and will probably end up as the crazy spinster aunt in the family
or in a lunatic asylum when their family gets too fed up with their antics.
