Russell, at 08:36 on Dec 14 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley...

Still do at 14k4, although unlike the Courier, I never see 33k6 connects
with the GVC. The USR was far superior IMO (albeit at 3x the GVC's price).

RB> You don't see that these days.

To be more accurate, YOU don't appear to see that these days. :)

RB> I have seen 116% at 26400, but I would say that was due to a speed shift

Unlikely on the copper where you live. Wait for co-ax and you'll be OK.

BG> True, but I'm still also convinced that it's protocol dependant too, as
BG> Binkley has never quite managed 4000cps on large zips with its 8Kb ZedZap.

RB> 8kb to go through

I'd have thought that the Courier's SREJ would have made a slight
difference with 8Kb blocks, but that just didn't seem to happen.

BG> Goodo, I'll talk to you after Xmas then, as we're getting ready to bugger
BG> off south for a couple of weeks (away from this unbearable bloody heat).

RB> OK. Yes, Tennis ball sized hail is much better.

If you thought the storm at Singleton was bad, spare a thought for the poor
sods in Armidale. We were there a week after their hailstorm at the end of
September, and more than half of the entire population had tarps on their
roofs, and many of the buildings in the CBD still had smashed plate glass
windows. I won't even mention the state of the cars that were caught in
it, but the hail averaged 25-50mm for half an hour, with some pieces as
large as 75mm diameter (the owner of the motel at which we stayed kept some
in their freezer to show the tourists).

RB> Stay COOL, then

ANYWHERE would have to cooler than this dump.

Regards, Bill
