BD>There never is any fading, noise, scratchiness, or interference heard
BD>when connected by voice on that same line..
HS> There rarely is, it usually has more to do with available 'bandwidth'
HS> than actual 'noise' on the line.
As of yesterday, I called in (again) to SW Bell in this regard, to
see about cleaning things up.. there was no immediate improvement
when the difficulties escalated a month ago, and I called them at
that time, but much more recently I have noted "some" reduction in
frequency of these symptoms.
HS> If you want something very basic to initialize the modem, you might
HS> want to use AT&F&C1&D2 to wake it up.
BD>> Although I still wonder where the very first query that I uploaded

HS> You should have gotten a response on the BBS within 1-2 business days.
HS> What section did you leave it in?
AFAIK, same place I left the one that did get answered.. gotta say
that the overall setup at the support BBS is fairly awkward compared
to privately run BBS' and after uploading the pre-written query, the
offer to "SAVE" might not have been seen, but I would have been look-
ing for it -- this go-round online, I have two years of experience
at Fido messaging & BBS-usage (added to prior period of online time
I have a total of well over four years of using BBS's now).

BD>(In that particular regard, I cannot determine from Qmodem's manual
BD>how/where that S Register code is tucked into the terminal software
HS> (Continued to next message)
NOPE! Same thing happened this time as last, when you exceeded the
line count your software or mailer program would send as one post --
any second part never got here!
