Good morning Maurice,
HG> In what sense do latin-1 and latin1 above, differ?
MK> One is real the other may or may not be real depending on what you
MK> want to believe as well as what you might believe it is. Some
MK> believe that it probably is cp1252 while others falsely believe it
MK> is iso-8859-1.
Ehhh, which one is what???
HG> Text coming from different writers, display differently in a CP437
HG> system.
MK> If you say so. I have only seen the ones creditted to that codepage
MK> which a table representation can be found in many locations.
Reading text sent for example by BP does show differently.
MK> Swedish characters do exist whereas others, such as Norwegian and
MK> Danish, not so much although there are cheats as you have pointed
MK> out.
For example the '’' and '‘' characters are typically danish, as are the
slashed 'o' letters, but the slashed 'O' is used as the number 'zero' by
to some, to separate it from the letter 'O'.
To my knowledge the slashed 'o' and the '’' letters are typically danish
BTW the letters '’' corresponds to the letters '„ and Ž, and the slashed
'o' to the letters '” and ™' in the other scandinavian languages.
Have a good day,
Holger
