Some years back I have a little Ford Courier with a Propane Conversion kit. Propane burns reaklly clean and al the smog crap is not really needed. Well Califronia decided that to many people may have converted back to gasoline for one reason or another so had a special smog Check for Propane and Diesel Vehicels .My Courier failed becasue as part of the conversion the Air Pump was removed.
