There are perl scripts with the hpt source that might be of assistance to
you.  I only tried one, piped a raw pkt that was destined to my bossnode,
and it gave all the information back in humanly readable form.  I forget
the name or the directory in the source but offhand in think it was misc/. 
I was planning to have another looksee soon with newer source soon.

I'd like to see more chatter about this sort of stuff in this echo
especially regarding functions in the libs, smapi and fidoconfig being the
main ones.  It would be nice to have lists of all the functions and
expected input.
