      M,
              6mm is way to thin for a telescope mirror unless you have a
way to slump and grind only
a fraction of glass out. Even then it would be so flexable that the circus
would not want to use it.
      I believe you can find thicker plate glass. Look at the goodwill
stores or second hand shops,
or even the newspapers for glass tables for sale. Sometimes you can find
3/4" glass at a good
price and then cut your blank out of the sheet... and many more to sell..
        Using metal for a telescope mirror is not an option in modern times
no matter what material it is.
The heating and cooling of metal moves way too much for visual wavelenghts.
You might be able
to see afew craters on the moon , but  even Newton's silver mirror was an
experiment that led to
using a much  higher density material (and cheaper) as glass..   I have
tried using Aluminum...
man talk about moving from hot to cold.,, it just will not hold a figure.
