One is real the other may or may not be real depending on what you want to
believe as well as what you might believe it is. Some believe that it probably
is cp1252 while others falsely believe it is iso-8859-1.

If you say so. I have only seen the ones creditted to that codepage which a
table representation can be found in many locations. Swedish characters do
exist whereas others, such as Norwegian and Danish, not so much although there
are cheats as you have pointed out. However one doesn't require a cheat if
using utf8 since all modern languages, as well as dead ones, are well
represented without the need for any cheat.
I am content to leave the cheating to IBM and MS people who require such things
due to obvious handicaps in their OSes as well as the fact of abandonment by
those who might have made all the difference.
