In my experience, where the system box is mounted has a large bearing on
dust accumulation. I've been running an AMD Dual Athlon system 24/7 as my
house server for the last 7 years and its always been clean and dustfree
inside, but it is mounted high up under a fitted work surface in my
computer area: there about 25mm between the top of its case and the
underside of the work surface. There's also remarkably little dust on the
shelf the system sits on. The front and sides of the shelf are open for
easy wiring access and free flow of cooling air.
