I'm still having problems connecting to my friends ARCHTEK SmartLink
28.8 modem!
It just won't connect no matter what we do. In fact, he pulled the modem
off of his BBS and put back his old ZOOM 14.4 just so myself and 2 or 3
other callers  could get on without
problems - however, my case seems to be the worse .
I have a SupraFAXModem v.32bis 14.4 external. I didn't have this problem
with my old Zoltrix RPI 14.4 internal, most likely because the zoltrix
didn't have error correction "in the picture".
Anyway, I have tried a number of strings:
AT&F2  - Modems get to end of
handshake and his modem drops the carrier, while my Supra stays offhook
and reports "DIaling"
AT&F  - Modems connect, but I
cannot transfer files. Every few K the CPS rates drop and Qmodem says
"REPOSITIONING" and the file almost completely starts over.
AT&F M1 W2 X4 &C1 &D2 \N3 - Can connect but still have file transfer
problems.
Could anyone help? We spent over an hour trying to get these two modems
to work yesterday morning. The funny thing is that if he calls me,
everything works fine - its only when I call him that we have trouble.
Under WILDCAT!, he had his port opened to 57600. I will have to check
and see what he had it open to under the Qmodem Host we were using to
test with.

BTW, his modem is internal so I don't think it could be a UART problem,
and i am lead to believe my UART is ok too, because my modem works with
every other BBS I call.
