This year's Texas weather certainly would not support the global
warming theory. We are having a perfectly usual Texas spring in that
the weather is totally unusual. I've seen 76 of those springs, and
never remember a year in which the temperature remained as cool as it
has this spring. Have to put on a sweater nearly every morning if I go
outside. Everything seems extremely slow to mature.
Last year, by this time, my tomato plants were fence (4 feet) high,
but, although planted at the same time, are only about two feet this
year. Things that should have bloomed by now haven't even formed buds.
On the other hand, at this time last year, we were wondering if we'd
ever see another drop of rain and the trees were chasing dogs. This
year, we are wondering if we will ever see dry ground again. Oh, well,
whatever else it is, Texas weather is seldom boring.
