I just get returned to the command prompt. in /tmp there is a zero byte file 
called "q"

Right now I am not trying too hard, want to install a copy of Linux on a 
system here without a CD-ROM drive, and then install maximus there and have a 
"clean" system to work with. Hopefully will end up with less
"variables" that 
way that might cause problems.
