You have to be a real sucker for punishment.  Anyhow I just started using
4.4.0(1)-rc1 recently and had to 'upgrade' to readline-7.0-rc1 first.  Seems to
work okay but it hasn't been long enough to really make a judgement call on. 
However everything I use bashwise seems to be working.

My excuse has been boredom.  Speaking of which, are you ready for netmail?  I
was going to route one to you but thought I had better wait until you
okee-doked it first.
