I'd love to know how you streamline your VE process. Around here, we
typically have 3x as many VEs as we ever need, which results in half of them
standing around with nothing to do and chatting amoung themselves while guys
are taking the tests. That drives me crazy...

Then, when the exams start coming in for grading, everything erupts into
chaos as we attempt to keep all the paperwork together. The exams are graded
and make their way down to the end where the CSCEs are filled out -- Unless
someone has passed their element and opted to take the next exam up -- in
which case, the paperwork has to be set aside and we have to run a new exam
out to the candidate.

After about 6-7 of these, things slow down, candidates are waiting 20+
minutes to get results back, and we're scrambling to match up paperwork.

I'm a VE for ARRL sessions, and WCARS, and it's the same for both teams. It
seems like there has to be a way to streamline the process. On larger testing
sessions, I don't like offering the candidate the upgrade opportunity unless
they have at least looked over the material. There's no need to let someone
take the Extra exam if they've barely passed General.

Some guys think "it's giving them a look at the Extra." No. That's what
sample tests online are for.

The whole testing system (the way we conduct it) seems antiquated and needs
an overhaul. Of course it's a lot better than years ago when the FCC was
administering it. Or so I'm told.
