As far as I figured out, the game expects a modem connection, so you have two
options:

1. Get one of these Wifi Modems

2. If you have a RS-232 expansion you can connect the C64 to the PC via serial
cable and use your PC as modem: http://orrtech.us/qlink/

and in case you have an Ethernet device, Option 3 would be to patch the game.
