RW> TW> The CEL light is more of a Engine Computer Check system. The smog RW> TW> device monitiring is jsut an add on. My now gone Chev S-10 even had RW> TW> the automatic transmission monitored by the CEL system RW>Not only that, but the ECU tells the transmission when to shift and how RW>much hydraulic pressure to apply. The dealer, or you if you have a tuner, RW>can change all of that. I became aware of that when soe problem caused the Trasnmission o nmy Chwev S-10 to go into "Limp Home" Mode. Talk abotu NO overlap Shifts. That really firmed the shifts up. That was my first problem with what I can only cal a Piece of GM CRAP. Teh Bean Counters designes \d the Transmission to barely last the 50,000 mile gurasntee. And they did a pretty job accorning to me Transmisson man. A VERY high percentage of that particualrly automatic transmission needed major work shortly after the 50,000 mile mark. Mine came at arround 56,000. Tow costly problems! One was the lock up conderter clutch was worn so bad the trassn had a very large perventage of slippage. Teh other was the t the Vlave body was made form a Very soft aloy of aluminum and one valve chanber was seriously worn. In fact the prolbem haoppened so often a third party sole a Repair Kit that consisted of a special Reamer and a Brass sleeve to press in to cure the problem. But I did get OVER 90,000 Miles on a set of Spark Plug Wires!!!!! :-) :-) --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ 0* Origin: Since 1991 And Were Still Here!
