Dear NT pros:
We have an urgent problem here with the automatic connection of network
drives under Windows NT workstation at the user login. The problem is the
following:
We are currently configuring many users on our organisation's NT Server. The
users log on to the domain using NT workstation. Our intention is that each
user gets his home directory automatically connected when he logs on to the
domain at his WS. I follow the normal procedure to achieve this: In the
Domain User Manager I create a new user account. Then I click on the profile
tab and connect a network drive letter with the individual home directory
path of the user (e.g. connect W: with \\servername\users\username).
However when I now log on as the newly created user on an NT Workstation the
network drive W: is not connected automatically to the users home directory
! If I did not get it wrong NT should connects network drives automatically
the way I configured it (s. above) ?! Only with Win95 this has to be
achieved using a login script I thought ?
We tracked the problem down to that it has something to do with the Novell
client which is also installed on each NT workstations. The users in our
organisation normally log on to a Novell and an NT domain. Now when the
users log on to both the Novell and NT domain the network drive W: is
connected correctly to the user's home directory. However, when I only log
on only to the NT domain W: is not connected as described above. In some way
Novell seems to interfear in the automatic connection process. I want to
achieve that if a user logs on to the NT domain only his home directory W:
is connected automatically and I also want that if he logs on simultaneously
to Novell and NT he gets the same result. Does anybody now what to do here ?
Many thanks in advance for any useful hint.
