My personal preference is to convene a Constitutional convention and dissolve
the United States.  Most if not all of the states have economies larger than most
other recognized nations.  IMO the US is a failed experiment and has been for
half a century.

Individual states and groups of states would, of ocurse, be perfectly free to merge
or form alliances.
