No Portage, no deal! ;)
More seriously, it just seems that unless you give it a try you'll never see
the appeal. Some people like it, some people don't. I like Gentoo, so I use it.
That's pretty much it. There's a ton of distros out there because there are
lots of people with different preferences.
Choose what's best for you. :)
