"My" board is our club's board (Miami Amateur
Computer Club - MACC, not to be confused with MAC!).
It is running continually, tho less and less active.
First-time users are rather limited in access; after
they use the auto-callback verifier, they have greater
access. We even allow NetMail access on request. If
they join the club (18/yr), they automatically have
NetMail and InterNet message access, as well as more
file and message areas. The hours between 7 and 11 PM
are reserved for members only. When we started that,
members had been complaining about not being able to
get on. That's less of a problem. It also encourages
membership for people who really like those hours.
Yes, the Quicken echo has been show - many days
with nothing. After dead air for a couple of weeks,
someone asked if it was still working and that seems to
have primed the pump and there's been a trickle. (A
bunch of drips!) *:o)
TM> I have just switched over to Version 5 for Windows and am trying to
I'm using V8.0 for DOS. I only use Windoze for my
scanner because I have to. I see Intuit's Turbo-Tax
will no longer be available for DOS, just Windoze. I
haven't decided if I will buy it this year or not - my
taxes are pretty straight-forward since I retired, and
don't really justify the expense. I'll see what else
is available, too. I'm afraid, tho, that Rich Billy's
taking over the computer world!
(As an aside, I discovered last year that Office
Depot was selling Turbo-Tax for less than I paid Intuit
for it mail order. So I have sent Intuit's order blank
back to them marked "No DOS, no buy!" just to make a
point. If I do decide to get it, I'll do so at Office
Depot!)
