 Thomas said what she meant. And she did not say go home to
 Poland and Germany. She said home, when asked where home was she
 said Poland and Germany and America and everywhere else.

 It had nothing to do with Auschwitz.

 Even right wing former Reagan administration undersecretary and
 now commentator Jack Kelly calls Buchanan anti-semetic.

 Why do B or B have to say what Thomas said? Isn't consistent
 anti-semitic commentary enough?

 The only thing really wrong with what Thomas said was it is
 impractical. Israel will never have peace and security until the
 Palestinians have a nation in which they enjoy full soveriegnty,
 including an army to defend themselves, and control of their
 borders and freedom to act without outside control.

 The only way that can happen is a seperate Palestinian state, or
 complete union with Israel, with full citizenship. Israel is
 fighting the two state solution, and the single state solution
 will mean the eventual end of Israel as a Jewish state.

 The two state solution will be expensive, and require a total
 effort toward justice for all, including the Palestinians in the
 refugee camps outside Palestine and Israel. That will require
 more moral and political courage and integrity than you will see
 in any current political leader in this country, or any Middle
 Eastern country.

 Unless you have a way to achieve peace in the Middle East, you
 have nothing to say of greater validity than what Helen Thomas
 said.
