That would make his twisted story start to make sense!  His legal name, at
birth, might have been Otto Ross, Jr.  Then, at some point over the next 18
years, Otto Ross, Sr., changes his name to distance himself from Junior. 
Junior is pressured to enlist in the AF as soon as he turns 18.  After two
months in he gimmicks a way out and tries to go home, but winds up getting
sent off to Washington State instead.
