Ok, /var/max now exists and is accesable by the account I'm compiling on.

The basic makes are still failing.... In searching back, it looks like I
need to find where curses is installed, or maybe I need to install a
package that I haven't installed yet..... Message is "vioc:568:
cureses.h: No such file or directory". So, that looks like what's
holding up the compilation at this point. And, yes, /var/max needed to be
made to allow directories to be created (when using the default suggested
locations).

Let's see if I can quickly find the ncurses library under Debian Woody....

Take care.....

 BJ> Running Debian Woody.....

WG> To find out what's new, read the CHANGES file. It would
WG> also be helpful to read 00-README.1ST and QUICKSTART.

BJ> Need to read those and edit some stuff accordingly....

BJ> I've simply unpacked in a subdirectory off my home
BJ> directory and tried the above..... So, /ar/max and
BJ> some other items are not setup.... And I'm not running
 BJ> from root.....
