SL> I watched the TOS' episode "Troubles with Tribbles" this afternoon and
SL> I re- marked something interesting.I saw some klingons that looked like
SL> humans(ex- cept that they had pinchs and dirty hairs) and they didn't
SL> even have big foreheads. Also, the crew of Enterprise(who was mostly
SL> humans)fought with them and they were toes-to-toes with the
SL> klingons. Also(again!),the klingons didn't seem to have a big sense of
SL> honor. Can somebody explains this to me please??
Sorry if this has already been answered, but this is what I know:
All the Klingons in TOS looked like that (there's actually a bit in James
Blish' adaptations, where, lacking information to the contrary, he stated
hat
they were descended from Earth colonists), and the Klingons and the FoP were
at
war with each other. (Sorry, TWT is after the Organian Treaty, so they
eren't
actually at war, but they were far from being friends.) The current Klingon
makeup developed over the course of the movies. In TUC (movie) the Klingons
and
the FoP started toward peace, but this was actually a retcon as the movie
ame
several years after STTNG began. (Worf was originally supposed to just hang
around in the background to show that the two had achieved accord, but he
ook
on a life of his own, and most of the revelations about Klingon honour, etc,
developed from there.)
The TOC Enterprise had a mainly human crew because the makers assumed that,
being an Earth ship, it would have an Earth crew. The Enterprise gained alien
crew in the animated series, when makeup ceased to be a factor.
There is supposed to be a DS9 episode that explains why the TOS and TNG
Klingons look different, but I don't have much hope, because there's also a
DS9
episode where some of the best-known TOS Klingons reappear - in the new
makeup.
