Look up Edmund Scientific. Their professional/educator catalog has
a ton of stuff in it. They've got solar cells, solar chargers,
storage batteries, and other similar things. Also check out
Bill Cheek's scanner books. He can give you the nitty-gritty,
hands-on, years-of-experience information.
I don't know their address or phone number off hand, but I found one
of their catalogs the other day in the trash at the Post Office.
When I was a kid back in the 60s, Edmund had a great catalog of neat
scientific stuff. Now that I'm an adult, they've grown up as well.
